Oskar Rüegg AG introduces stamping in Bulgaria

September, 2016

Plant expansion and upgrading of machinery now facilitates the implementation of the stamping process in the branch office

In September 2016 construction began on the 3,100 m2 Oskar Rüegg AG plant expansion at our second site in Bulgaria. In addition to the new production hall, more office facilities were constructed. Supplementary to the existing services – degreasing, cleaning, aluminium vaporisation and assembly – additional manufacturing processes are now possible such as stamping,  laser engraving and other production processes in the Bulgarian production site. The plant expansion and the stamping project have now both been successfully completed one year after construction began.

The stamping of complex stamped-formed components made of stainless steel and non-ferrous metal reliably and efficiently

Comprehensive know-how is imperative for the manufacture of stamped-formed components made of tape material that are in conformity with drawings and customer specific. Oskar Rüegg AG has years of experience in this sector and is a reliable partner and supplier for the conception of complete processes and series production of pre-finished stamped-formed components and assemblies made of stainless steel or non-ferrous metal in large series. As early as the development stage and construction of prototypes, the broad know-how comes into effect in the area of metal forming technology – early technical consultation meetings are held at an early stage with the customer, to jointly define the most efficient solution.

The diverse and manifold stamped-formed products that conform to the drawings are formed by progressive tools, which are developed and manufactured under the responsibility of Oskar Rüegg AG. The result is a high-quality product, which is produced using our own machinery in a three shift operation. Our machines include stamping and forming machines from renowned manufacturers, such as Bruderer, Haulick & Roos as well as Bihler front forming machines. The maximum pressing force is 1,600 kN. Depending on application, materials ranging from a sheet thickness of 0.10 mm to 4.00 mm and a material width of 320 mm can be stamped and processed. This means that a broad product spectrum can be reliably covered.

Introduction of the stamping process in Bulgaria: Positive benefits for the entire value chain

The project team – made up of members from Switzerland and Bulgaria – has jointly created a project concept that has enabled Oskar Rüegg AG to introduce the stamping process into Bulgaria as smoothly as possible. The introduction of the stamping process into normal operation at the Bulgaria location now makes it possible to also offer local customers in Bulgaria the complete manufacture of stamped-formed components and assemblies. This step proves beneficial for the entire value chain – not least of all with regard to operational efficiency. The engineering, the manufacture of tools and the safe launch phase will still take place in the plant in Switzerland, so that the customer’s usual procedure remains unchanged.

At a later date we will strive to implement a second stamping line and the relocation of additional stamping tools. With this step Oskar Rüegg AG aspires to promptly further expand the know-how in Bulgaria and to develop new product ranges to be in a position to address customer-specific requirements more flexibly.
